Labor Day Weekend has come & gone … heavy sigh.

Summer winds down.

I love summer; I love having my kids home from school (and in from L.A.), going on vacation together with no particular schedule, just enjoying them.

This year our family took an unforgettable Mediterranean cruise in celebration of our milestone wedding anniversary. Our first stop was glorious Venice, and we all fell under her exotic spell. Yes, it was hot & crowded, and in the afternoon, the city seemed one giant flea market.  However, we discovered if we rose at dawn, we could have Venice to ourselves for several hours, combing the streets, marveling at her historic past. We drank espresso everywhere, got lost a million times, ate ice cream constantly and fell in love with the water taxis (especially at night).
